What is beauty for you?

Define beauty? Do you look in the mirror and like what you see? You look beautiful? Beauty in our society takes many different forms. For me, beauty encompasses confidence, strength, healthy habits and values. I almost see beauty as the definition of your own inner peace, your true happy self, whereby you look in the mirror and, despite the imperfections in your own eyes, still feel satisfied with your image. This is beauty to me.

Why is there so much pressure on perfection within yourself in our societies? Do all men and women strive to be the best possible human being for you or for others? What do you need to achieve this beauty? Often, to keep your mind and body healthy, you are bombarded with different methods, products, exercise routines, creams, perfect remedies, strict diets, cleansing routines and beauty covers. Does this help you form that perfect image to increase your inner strength, or is it through sheer will and determination that you nurture the body that has been given to you to give you this beauty?

What qualities does beauty have in your opinion? Thinking about this, I immediately visualize myself and my best qualities, my big eyes, my long legs, my thick hair… but I don’t feel defined by my appearance. Beauty, therefore, would be the perception itself. Surprisingly, beauty is defined by different cultures and societies differently. I love this beauty thing, the diversity it brings to our own personal realities.

As I get older I realize that my skin is not as smooth as it used to be, and seeing this in the mirror encourages me to find a cleanser that moisturizes and keeps my skin moist. I also have very thick hair, which tends to get unruly, so I am aware that my hair looks matted to the general public, so look for an anti-frizz hair moisturizer. When I’m out with my loved ones, I love to dress up and look my best in public, I still wear eyeshadow and enhance the color and shape of my eyes with cosmetics. All of which boosts my personal confidence, which helps me define my own perception of beauty.

Surprisingly, I believe that beauty can be achieved by everyone in any society, both intellectually and physically. People’s perspectives and stereotypes need to be challenged to accept all forms of definitions of beauty. Beauty truly begins within yourself, and when you have achieved your own inner happiness, you will infect others with your positive nature and appearances. We are all drawn to confidence within a person, to a person who is willing to go the extra mile, and to those who inspire greatness. Be your best self for beauty. Find your own best image and look for things to help you achieve that best image for your own beauty and happiness.
