Bakkies vs. Cars

When it comes time to buy a means of transportation, one might be faced with the choice between a regular car and a bakkie. The word bakkie is a South African nickname for a pickup truck. Some people have their own personal preferences regarding the type of motorized vehicle they would like. In some cases, people are not educated enough about bakers to be able to make an informed decision.

A regular car is generally preferred because it is cheaper to drive. In other cases, people buy a motorized vehicle as a status symbol. Some drivers like to travel in luxury and therefore follow the sports car trend. As the years of technology have progressed, so have the designs of bakkies and SUVS. Bakkies are rapidly growing in popularity, due to their increased conveniences and the benefits that come with using them. Although some people argue that regular cars are more viable for commuting, a huge fan base has emerged for bakkies and SUVs. When it comes to the requirements of modern travellers, some smaller motor vehicles just aren’t up to the task!

The argument always used to be that cars are cheaper on gas than big bakkies. This is now starting to be less valid. In some cases, cars use more gas as they get more luxurious, faster, and more powerful. Bakkies are now being made that are much lighter on gas than before and sometimes lighter on gas than their normal smaller car counterparts! It goes without saying that a bakkie has much more space and cargo-carrying capabilities than a regular car and is therefore more favored by people who need to carry large loads. The cargo bed at the rear of the bakkie is handy for small boxes, bikes, and anything else that needs to be carried that is of a reasonable size.

More and more urban dwellers are catching up on the bakkie trend, buying them for a multitude of uses including vacations, small businesses, and delivery services. Many people prefer the elevated feel and belief in increased driver safety when driving a bakkie. It’s certainly true that a big, heavy vehicle will fare better in a collision, and that’s why so many moms buy bakkies and SUVs to transport the most precious cargo of all: their kids. Children also come with a lot of baggage from school; bags, sports equipment, etc. and therefore require additional luggage space. Bakkies are ideal for families who regularly go camping, hiking, and vacationing. Due to the power of these vehicles, they can pull heavy loads such as boats, trailers with ATVs and motorcycles, and other heavy things. Bakkies can drive on rough terrain, like sand and rocks, making them nice for use in off-road destinations.

In conclusion, it is easy to see that there is a big difference between cars and bakkies. Bakkies have so many more uses than a regular motor vehicle, and depending on your family’s needs, you should be able to find the right bakkie that will keep you happy for a long time.
