The Chevy 789 is a cool car

Imagine combining the excellent design features of three different classic Chevy models, such as the 1957 Bel Air, the 1958 Chevrolet Impala, and the horizontal fins from a 1959 Chevrolet. Then wrap this contemporary body around a 2005-2007 Corvette C6 chassis. . This is precisely what was done with a concept car from n2a Motors called the 789.

Named for the three years symbolized in the overall design and instantly recognizable by old-timer fans around the world, the 789 is a cool car.

The nose of the 789 is represented by the familiar bonnet rockets, chrome V bonnet, grille bar, parking lights, rubber bumper tips, and headlight bezel from a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air. Just for added style, what looks like a 1957 Chevy hood bar extension wraps around the front fenders.

The rear treatment is in close proximity to the 1959 Chevrolet’s slim-line design-style flared wings and cat-eye taillights, including the location of the license plate.

Along the side, the stainless steel trim looks like a 1958 Chevrolet Impala, right down to the location of the Corvette’s crossed flag emblems. The interior of the 789 is similar to the tri-color ribbed vinyl that was used in the luxurious saloon interiors of the 1958 Chevy Impala nearly 50 years ago.

A 789 is well equipped with all the standard equipment the 2005-2007 Corvette has to offer, including a 6.0L LS2 400 V8 engine plus horsepower and a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. Additionally, each car includes a custom exhaust system and a $ 2,000 custom wheel upgrade.

The challenge of creating a new car with a 1950s design must have been difficult. Yet this 789 is beautiful and has the perfect blend of styling from a Chevy era when almost everyone owned one. Among the millions of cars Chevrolet has built over its nearly 100-year history, this 789 prototype built by n2a Motors will one day become part of “The Heartbeat of America.”
