Safety instructions for the bike ride for children

Like every other kid in the neighborhood, my six-year-old son loves to ride his bike. He sometimes comes back with a cut and sometimes with a bruise, but that doesn’t stop him from taking his bike out every night for a ride. Riding a bike is not only fun, but also a great way to keep kids active. According to a survey, riding a bicycle is the most popular form of exercise among children between the ages of 5 and 12. But it also has some degree of danger associated with it. Therefore, parents who send their child to ride a bike must be careful with certain safety guidelines.

  • Safe Suits: Be particular about what to have them wear. A well-fitting dress will be a good option to avoid getting caught in a chain. Have them wear brightly colored clothing, so they are visible from a distance. Sports shoes are very important for safe driving.
  • Safety equipment: A good quality, snug fitting helmet should be worn whenever a child rides a bike. The helmet is the most important safety equipment besides the knee and elbow pads.
  • Bike Safety Check: Parents need to go through a safety check every time, before their child goes to ride a bike. See if the chain and brakes need any adjustment or if the seats are at the proper height. Check the air pressure in the tires.
  • Safe route to ride a horse: Do not allow your child to go out into an unfamiliar area. A safe and specific route must be established for riding. It is better to send them together with your friends. If all children are under the age of 10, one of the children’s parents must accompany them.
  • Road safety regulations: Teach them the basic rules of the road. A child under the age of 10 is supposed to ride on the sidewalk. Stay in one lane when traveling in a group. Avoid using headphones or i-pods.

Bicycling can also be a fun-filled family event if you do it together. If not, always educate your child on safety while he’s riding his bike.
