How to make up a cat costume

Get a cute cat necklace that can be worn around the neck or you can make one of these with a ribbon and some diamond jewelry glued to it … how cute!

For the hair

Start by curling and stroking your hair within an inch of your life! For the ears, make two very loose pigtails and twist them at the ends back into the band on either side of the top of your head and then use massive amounts of hairspray to hold them in place. To get different colored highlights on your hair, try using a white hairspray all over your hair. Then put some gray and pink streaks in the hair to match the colors of the faux fur. For the highlights, you can use a pink blush and dark gray eyeshadow applied heavily with an eye makeup brush. Also put some of the pink blush on the inside of the ears that you did earlier with the hair and then apply MORE hairspray on the hair. The blush and eyeshadow cover the white hairspray well. You can use other colored hair products, but it is much cheaper to do it this way.

To make up

For the makeup base you can use a white zinc-based base, you can also mix cold cream with cornstarch to create the white base. You may need to add water to get a perfect consistency. It even covers your eyebrows. You can also use white face paint that is available in most costume stores. Sprinkle your face with flour or talcum powder. Shade along the hairline to try and blend the color of the face into the hair.

For eyes

Apply a tan pink eyeshadow to the entire eyelid area up to the eyebrows and also to the upper part of the lip area, under the cheekbones and also under the mouth to further contour the face and highlight the cheeks.

Next, apply a black liquid or pencil liner mainly on the upper lids along the lash line, drawing the liner in a “cat’s eye” shape at the outer corner of the eyes. You may have a problem with using the liquid eyeliner as it takes a bit of practice to apply before it looks good. If you’re having trouble applying it, try using a sharp black or brown pencil eyeliner as a guide, then paint the liquid eyeliner over the top.

Draw some contour lines around the eyes with brown eyeliner or an eyebrow pencil.

If you’re feeling confident, try putting on a couple of eyelash extensions as well.

For eyebrows

Draw an exaggerated brow over your own brow, but extend a bit more with a brown brow pencil. Shade the brow area with more pink and tan eyeshadow if you find gaps after drawing the brow.

For lips

Cover lips with concealer and the white cornstarch mixture. Draw around the lips with a black eyeliner that extends beyond the edges of the mouth as shown, to look more like a cat. Then draw in the whiskers and fill under the tip of the nose and in the middle of the upper lip, in a T-shape.
