There are so many GTA fans and few of them are disappointed with the release of GTA IV for PC. The reason behind its disappointment is that the game has more bugs and the FPS (frames per second) are not good. In some cases, users cannot see the environments where the textures are missing. In this article we will discuss how we can fix the delays in GTA 4.
The first thing to do is check if the video card drivers are up to date. When planning to install new drivers (the latest version from Nvidia or ATI), always remove the older drivers. When it comes to patches, Rockstar has released some patches that fix various issues.
If you are using Windows Visa there is the SuperFetch feature and few users disable it to speed up the system, however if you disable it you will run into a missing texture in GTA 4. To enable the SuperFetch feature in Windows Vista follow these instructions.
1. Click the Start button on the taskbar.
2. Select Search.
3. Type “services” without quotes and press Enter.
4. Now search for “superfetch”
5. When you see it, double click on it and a pop-up box will appear.
6. Enable it, press OK and close the box.
With the instructions below, you can run GTA IV with better frame rates and better graphics even in higher resolution.
First of all, go to configure graphics and set the resolution to 800×600. You can also configure other sliders as desired, but make sure the remaining VRAM numbers are still green.
Now divide the first number by the second and the result would probably be something like 0.5 or 0.8; Keep it in mind. Save the settings and exit the game now. Add the following information to the file.
-wide 1680 -high 1050 -availablevidmem (write the figure indicated here without brackets)
In some cases, the drivers create conflicts with the application. What happens is that when we install new drivers on the computer and remove an old one, these are not completely removed. They left some corrupt entries in the Windows registry. If any files are missing or corrupted, the game may run slower.
