Yes, it seems that the situation could not be worse. After the president of the Italian airline stepped down, Alitalia is now hunting ground for some of Europe’s greats.

Air France – KLM is already studying the possibility, as are Lufthansa and AirOne, which has the support of one of the most important banks in Italy, Intesa.

This might not be fun at all for all the employees who can suffer tremendous consequences, but it seems the guys at Ryanair didn’t really think about it and quickly found a way to make fun of the situation.

I first noticed it about 1 month ago, when I was waiting in front of the boarding gate at Girona airport, near Barcelona, in Spain. One of the Ryanair planes arriving from Milan was landing at the time, and as it approached I could read written on its side in large capital letters: “Arrivederci Alitalia”. For those unfamiliar with basic Italian, this literally means “Goodbye, Alitalia.”

I can imagine the effect that taking one of those Alitalia flights, landing at the airport and suddenly seeing a Ryanair plane saying goodbye to your airline through your window can really have. At the same time, the bosses of Alitalia must not be happy with the situation at all, don’t you think?

In any case, and with all due respect to the situation, it’s just amazing how Ryanair always finds an opportunity to make a little fun of everything that comes their way. The news on your website is always so much fun to read.

You can’t imagine the scandal they caused when Easy Jet decided to close some deals with travel agencies, which according to Ryanair are the biggest parasites in the industry. They’re probably right, and the move probably won’t benefit Easy Jet, but they needed the money because of rising gas prices.

Also, the last time I saw the CEO of Ryanair in Nordic Europe, he was in a very important meeting presenting all the new routes and he was wearing a very fashionable huge Viking helmet. There are no words to describe it, I spent a lot of time afterwards to get a picture of it!

In any case, I want to wish the Alitalia guys the best future, as today they are offering a good (not the best) option to cross the Atlantic via Milan, at least among the high-fare airlines. And, come on, they are Italian!
