How to get your Wii this holiday season

The last two years you’ve been trying to get a Wii for the kids and once again they ask for one for Christmas. I have a proven method of getting a Wii. It shouldn’t take you more than a week to get one, but you will have to be a bit tenacious.

You can go to Walmart or Target and find the XBox 360 or PS3 and they have even discounted them to $ 199. If you want a Wii you have to be very lucky or know what to ask the right person at the right time. It is easier than you think.

Gamestop is popping up everywhere. I know of a place where there are literally 3 to 1/10 of a mile apart. Not everyone has a good manager who is willing to compromise on shipping dates. You may need to call 2 or 3 of them, but you need to ask them the right thing. They won’t tell you when your shipment will arrive because they don’t know for sure. What you should ask is “Have you received the invoice yet?” Gamestop sends the invoice ahead of time so managers know the Wii is on its way. They send them these bills for everything, truth be told, but you don’t care about those things, just that Wii!

It is better to call daily. That way you know when to go. Suppose you call on Saturday and the manager says “No invoice” and receives the invoice on Sunday, but does not call until Monday. Now you won’t know when to get your Wii. Wii arrive 3-4 days after invoice arrives. You can bet it will be 3 instead of 4, but managers always say 3-4. When they confirm they received the invoice, ask what time your UPS usually arrives. Most likely, you will arrive at the same time every day. You want to show up 1/2 hour before that time and wait. There is a lot to see, but watch out for Mr. UPS. When you drop off the shipment, people often pick it up quickly.

There are websites that will alert you when one is available, but when you get to the store, they are gone. I’ve been there doing that. Do what I tell you and next week you will wrap up the Wii for the kids.
