Blue Jays powdered by the Yankees

On August 3, the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays had a match that crushed the Canadian team with a final score of 8-1.

The Yankees’ big man in the game, Jason Giambi, hit a three-run home run that gave his team four straight wins, while also keeping them ahead in the AL East. In action ‘Giambino’ got a double RBI.

But the winning result was not only thanks to Giambi. New acquisition Cory Lidle allowed one run on four hits in six innings in his first start with New York. Lidle was hit from Philadelphia on Sunday, along with outfielder Bobby Abreu, who had three hits on Thursday. Also Craig Wilson, acquired from Pittsburgh on Monday, had a two-run single.

On the other hand, the Blue Jays had their longest losing streak of the season (fifth in a row) and fell 8 1/2 games behind the resurgent Yankees.

Despite the losing streak the Blue Jays have been through, they hope to turn it around next Friday, when they host the first game of a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox.

While the Yanks are going to play on Tuesday the 8th, against the Boston White Sox.
